Cornmeal is a gluten-free flour and a mixture of finely ground maize and
wheat that are fine, yellowish in color and have a distinctive corn flavor and
characteristic aroma. Cornmeal is prepared by grinding dry, mature
maize (corn kernels) after the removal of the corn's outer hull. Cornmeal is a
better alternative to white flour due to its higher content of essential nutrients such
as proteins, carbohydrates, dietary fiber and some vitamins and minerals.
A lot of people rely on Cornmeal as a main source of dietary fiber,
which relieves constipation, diarrhea, and diverticulitis. It also helps lower
cholesterol levels through a process that reduces the absorption of dietary cholesterol,
thus reducing the risk of heart diseases.
